Melanie Joy, Ph.D., Ed.M. is an internationally-acclaimed speaker, award-winning author, a Harvard-educated psychologist, and professor of psychology and sociology at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Joy is best known for her pioneering work on carnism, introduced in her book “Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows.” Her work has been featured on programs including the BBC, National Pub…lic Radio, PBS, ABC Australia, and Good Morning Croatia, and in Slovenia’s “Jana,” the Austrian “Der Standard” the Italian “Le Scienze,” and Luxembourg’s “Tageblatt.” Joy has given her acclaimed carnism presentation across the United States as well as internationally. Joy is also the author of “Strategic Action for Animals” and she is the founder and president of the Carnism Awareness and Action Network.
